It operates until today covering the boundaries of the municipal unit Kato Olympos of the Municipality of Tempi. \r\nIts operation began as an Agricultural Credit Cooperative and with the new provisions it was transformed into an Agricultural Cooperative.Its operation began with about 50 members while today it reaches 133 who are engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry.\r\nIt is governed by a seven-member management board as well as a three-member supervisory board.\r\nThe main activity of the Cooperative is the marketing of animal feed, cereals and kiwifruit. It is also responsible for controlling the irrigation of the crops of the Pinios Delta. Its central facility is the central warehouse used for the distribution of animal feed and cereals.\r\nThe Agricultural Cooperative cooperates with the General Directorate of Agricultural Economy and Veterinary Medicine as well as with the Benaki Institute. He has received certifications such as GLOBAL G.A.P., GRASP and AGRO 2.1 & 2.2 for issues related to kiwi  cultivation. It has also entered programs to combat diseases and harmful insects of kiwi.\r\nAt the same time, the Cooperative has created three new groups: the Group\r\ncereals, the sheep and  goat milk group and the producers' organization\r\nKiwi.\r\nThe Kiwifruit Producers Organisation was created in 2015 and has had 42 members since then. The arable areas of the members reach 700 acres and are constantly increasing. The yield in fresh fruit reaches 1,800 tons per year.\r\nThe aim of the Organization is the collection, standardization, marketing and promotion of kiwifruit.\r\nIt has submitted an operational program and has been approved for the years 2020-2022, as well as has submitted a file to program 4.2.1 of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food for the construction of  a refrigerator – sorting room. The refrigerator – sorting room is an annex of the central facilities of the Cooperative and a step towards the development and promotion of Kiwi Pyrgetos.\r\nIn December 2020, the project was completed with the facilities ready for a storage capacity of 2,500 tons of kiwifruit. At the beginning of 2021, the equipment of the sorting – packing plant was installed, applying in practice the highest standards to achieve the goal of the Organization and the successful distribution of the product initially in the European and then in the Global market.\r\nThe refrigerator-sorting room  receives the kiwifruit from the dayof its harvest and keeps it in the required conditions until the time of sorting and packaging. With the necessary controls and interventions our product remains unchanged for a long time and as a result itis available for sale several months after harvest. In the sorting room  There is experienced staff for the proper and good management of the product not only during its harvest and receipt but also during its sorting and packaging always based on the  BRC and IFS standards we have. Being a sensitive product, its handling should be very careful. Those include not only the experience and the scientific knowledge but also the willingness to implement techniques directly linked to the quality and homogeneity of production that ensures kiwifruit with optimum level of solid substance.\r\nThe total acreage of the members of the Agricultural Cooperative \"PYRROS\" amounts to 60 hectares, spread in the largest and most appropriate cultivation area of Arta's region.\r\nOur main production is comprised of the well-known Hayward kiwifruit variety while 6 of our members produce the Yellow kiwis variety SORELI for the past decade, covering acreage of about 5 hectares.\r\nIn the long standing course of kiwifruit production our members have collaborated with several significant companies trading kiwifruit in both Greece and Italy as well as worldwide.\r\nOur building facilities cover an area of 4.750 square meters in Filothei, Arta including a packhouse of 2.750 square meters and cold storage chambers of 2.000 square meters with a storage capacity of 3000 tons of fruit.\r\nOur state of the art sorting machine manufactured by ELISAM Italy, includes 6 sorting lines equipped with detection cameras that guarantees quality consistency to our customers.\r\nThe refrigeration facility is manufactured by Frigoveneta S.p.A , Italy and not only does it include Ethylene Catalytic Converters by Swingtherm, but also an Ionny Environmental System by FruitControl Equipment S.R.L.\r\nOur additional asset for optimum quality performance is the postharvest Gas analyzer by Macview, The Netherlands, which performs the measurement of ethylene, CO2 and oxygen in the cold storage chambers.\r\nOn top of that a future wing of cold storage chambers is under construction that when completed will be able to store 2.000 tons supplementary.\r\nQuality and safety are core values for our Cooperative.\r\n\"PYRROS\" is certified with GLOBAL G.A.P. and GRASP ensuring the production of supreme quality fruits without residues, as well as the social welfare and protection of the environment.
